South West Zone Chairmen Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has hailed the Saturday’s verdict of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, which dismissed the Certificates forgery case filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and one of its members Williams Edobor, against Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State.
Justice Ahmed Mohammed in his judgement held that APC failed to provide credible evidence to prove the allegation, saying that there was no iota of evidence before the court to establish that Obaseki forged either the Ordinary School Certificate or Degree certificate awarded to him by the University of Ibadan in 1979.
The PDP South West zone Chairman of Chairmen Forum, Dr. Sikirulah Ogundele reactiing to the judgement of the court on Sunday in a statement in Abeokuta, said the verdict had finally vindicated the position of the party’s National Working Committee which provided a level playing field for the Obaseki to contest for the 2020 PDP governorship ticket with other aspirants in the state.
According to Ogundele”PDP is the only party in Nigeria that ensures justice , fairness and respect rule of law as major incredents for survival of democracy in the country”.
He described the judgement as not only victory for democracy but a clear demonstration of justice and fairness to all parties involved, calling on losers at the poll to team up with Obaseki to build a virile and more prosperous Edo State.
