The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) has confirmed the death of two persons while one other sustained injury in an accident involving two vehicles and one motorcycle along the Sagamu – Ogijo road.
The accident which occurred at around 8am today involved a Toyota Camry grey colour marked EKY 733 GF, Howo sino truck blue colour marked AGL 505 WX and an unmarked red motorcycle.
The three victims, a couple and a motorcyclist were on the motorcycle before the accident occurred.
The motorcyclist had successfully maneuvered three trucks but hit the Toyota car from behind, they fell and got run over by a truck.
The couple reportedly died on the spot while the motorcyclist sustained injuries.
TRACE Public Relations Officer, Babatunde Akinbiyi in a statement disclosed that the accident occurred at Odogbara few meters from NNPC along Sagamu –Ogijo road.
Akinbiyi blamed the motorcyclist for over speeding and reckless which led to break failure.
An Eyewitness said “the motorcyclist was headed for Sagamu from Ogijo axis, when in an attempt overtake a Camry car suffered a break failure and hit the Camry car from behind. The Motor cycle fell on the road with the 2 passengers it is carrying and the trailer coming from behind ran over them and they died on the spot, while the motorcyclist was injured. Unfortunately, they were both husband and wife.”
Akinbiyi said that the bodies of the 2 dead victims have been deposited at the Ogun State University Teaching Hospital, OSUTH, while the injured was taken to a nearby hospital at Likosi.
He added that the Sotubo Divisional Police Office, Sagamu, is currently on the case.
The accident vehicles according to Akinbiyi have been taken to papa Oscar cage at DPH Sotubo.
