Two persons have been killed by suspected herdsmen in Iniongu village in Guma council area of Benue State.
Council chairman Caleb Aba, who confirmed the killings, said the herdsmen stormed the village about 3am on Wednesday and opened fire on the victims who were fast asleep.
Aba said that the victims were Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who just returned to their village to prepare for the coming farming session. Governor Samuel Ortom hails from Guma local government. The area has been notorious for farmer-herder clashes since 2018.
