Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has threatened to declare a former member of House of Representatives (representing Lagos State), Hon Moshood Adegoke popularly called Salvador a promoter of fake journalists and news .
The union frowned at his involvement with some set of people it described as fake Journalists in Ogun State.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that Adegoke was duly informed through some close associates that the Union wouldn’t have bothered to take any actions had the fake Journalists planned to host the event under a different umbrella and not a very reputable professional body like NUJ.
The union said regardless of all entreaties, it was reported that Adegoke insisted on honouring the invitation.
The move which prompted journalists to categorise him as promoter of impostors and fake news peddlers.
It will be recalled that the NUJ had published a disclaimer on Friday where it was clearly stated that the purported coordinator and the chairman on the invitation, Sina Oduntan and Lanre Adegboyega respectively are not recognized members of Nigeria Union of Journalists in Ogun State, Zone, and the National Secretariat.
The State Council of the Union had also expressed disappointed on the media managers of the former lawmakers for not doing a proper research on the Calibre of people that invite their master to an event.
The Council urged the lawmaker to reach out to the national leadership of the Union to confirm if the organisers of the purported event are members of NUJ.
The organisers have reportedly invited some notable personalities who have reportedly dissociated themselves from any form of illegality ,saying , they will only attend event approved by the National body of NUJ.
The NUJ said the authentic executive of Federated chapel is led by Alhaj Satar Ahmed which had held it’s event attended by the Commissioner of Police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Coros commander.
