Some loyalists of the former governor of Ogun state, Segun Osoba have tackled the chairman Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun state, Chief Yemi Sanusi for allegedly tampering with the harmonised committee list of in the state .
The APC which is divided into three factions engulfed in crisis over Local Government Executive across the state .
While the APC caretaker committee led by Yemi Sanusi is believed to be loyal to the current governor of the state, Dapo Abiodun, two other factions are loyal to both former governors Osoba and Senator Ibikunle Amosun .
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the Osoba loyalists presented a protest letter to the caretaker committee in the state which was jointly signed by 40 leaders at the party secretariat ,Iyana Mortuary, Abeokuta.
PLATFORM TIMES has obtained a copy of the protest letter accusing Sanusi-led caretaker committee of ‘unjustly upturning the collective decision of the majority’.
The aggrieved party leaders in the protest letter dated January 11, addressed to the state caretaker committee chairman of the party and titled ” request to uphold the list of the Ogun state APC harmonisation committee and Ogun state APC working committee” on tbe local government executive of the party.
The statement read “we wrote to strongly oppose and condemn the actions of the state party caretaker chairman and his political allies in government to unjustly upturn the collective decision of the majority .
“The latest of which is the swearing in party caretaker chairmen in all the 20 local government of the state on 6th of January, 2021.
“It will be recalled that the party state working committee had directed all local governments to have party excos in place .
“Consequently, all the local governments submitted their excos’ list . It is important to note that APC in the state had become factional so much that members were operating from different Secretariats.
“In actual fact, different lists were submitted to the party in the state in which Abeokuta South is not an exception .
“For this reason ,Ogun state APC on executive committee set up harmonisation committee to resolve all the differences ”
The aggrieved party leaders in Abeokuta South said their list had been and that the list had been adopted by the state working committee .
According to them, the state chairman had made pronouncements last year to resolve the crisis bedeviling Abeokuta South local government and the people .
“We were surprised to see that the harmonisation lists were tampered with , substituted and replaced , it was noted that some of the names that were not in the harmonised list were sworn-in . This is unacceptable and grossly uncosntitutional “.
