A Popular Yoruba right activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popuarly known as Sunday Igboho has received the support and blessing of one of the monarchs of border communities in Ogun State which are under series of attacks from suspected killer Fulani herdsmen to do whatever he could do to bring back sanity to their land.
The said monarch, Eselu of Eseluland, Oba Akintunde Akinyemi is the one whose kingdom was allegedly ransacked by herdsmen accompanied by Soldiers who were alleged to be from the 35, Artillery Brigade, Alamala barracks, Abeokuta.
The said monarch during a telephone interview with newsmen after receiving Igboho in his palace said “Igboho just left me just now, I welcome Sunday with both arms, I welcome him, I bless him to do whatever he can do to bring sanity back to our town, he has my support.
“What happens today and in the southwest is a sign that the government has failed the people at the Federal and the State level, it has simple has that, we should forget about patching anything , there is nothing to patch
“The government has failed and the people has picked up arms to defend themselves and their territories because in a rule of law were this is supremacy, equality and fundamental rights of every citizen, if our right is been protected Sunday Igboho will not pick up arms to start chasing or maiming the Fulani who are killing our people and raping our women, it is the responsibility of the Police.
“In our land were we have an injunction restraining the Fulanis from bringing their cattle and yet they are still bringing it, what do you expect, the people have to defend themselves.
“I have told him to try and visit Oni Eggua, he should try and visit Igbua because that is there settlement, I didn’t give them settlement in their area but the place they settle is Eggua and he is going there right now.
“There is know Kara in my land, they just come here and disturb the peace of the land, there is no way he can come to Ogun State without coming to me, he is someone I have been talking to before”.
when asked on what the government had done on the petition they wrote he said “Nothing has been done, that is why I said it is sign of a failed government, when they have been series of report from the media, series of petitions, series of radio and TV discussions, up till now the government has not said a word, what do you expect , nothing, not even a meeting, not yet”.
