The Ogun State house of Assembly has elected Hon. Akeem Balogun repersenting Ogun Waterside Constituency in the State as the new Deputy Speaker.
Balogun was elected unopposed after his nomination by Hon. Solomon Osho who represents Remo north constituency of the State during a plenary section today.
The clerk of the house, Mr Deji Adeyemo supervised the election after earlier hinting the house of the vacuum in the office of the Deputy Speaker following the impeachment of the former Deputy Speaker, Dare kadiri.
Kadiri was impeached March 2 for alleged gross misconduct With the support of 19 members of the house.
Balogun born in 1965 is alumnus of University of Nigeria, Nsuka where he obtained Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Health Education and also a member of Royal Society of Health, London.
Balogun Before his election into the Ogun State House of Assembly was said to have held different positions in the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission.
In the year 2020, the new Deputy Speaker sponsored a Bill that will allow traditional rulers to be installed or buried after death according to their faith.
The Bill themed: “HB No 36/OG/2020 — A Bill for a law to provide for the Preservation, Protection and Exercise by the traditional rulers of their fundamental Rights to be installed and buried according to their Religions or Beliefs and for other related matters.
Balogun while speaking to journalist after his election appreciated his colleagues for choosing him as the Deputy Speaker.
He assured the Speaker of the house, Hon, Olakunle Oluomo of 100 percent loyality.
His words “As captain of the ship, I will regularly be in consultation regularly be in consultation with him on issues that will bring development to the state.
