The Chairman, ASUP MAPOLY branch, Chibuzor Osifalujo made the demand while speaking with newsmen on the delay in choosing a substantive Rector 10 Months after the screening.
He lamented that the screening committee which had submitted its result to the governor 10 Months ago , presented three candidates for the governor to choose one from the list .
He said lack of Rector in MAPOLY has slowed down the operation of the institution which is being run by an acting Rector .
He said “the thing is that they have done an interview for the prospective candidates for almost ten months now, but, the government is yet to announce any of them as the substantive Rector.
“Government (the governor in particular) should just pronounce a substantive Rector for MAPOLY since they have completed the process.
“They have suggested almost three names for the governor, to choose one is what we are awaiting since then.”
He also lamented that lack of Rector has made it difficult for the institution to have a government council.
The ASUP chairman requested the governor to constitute the governing council for the institution .
He said “Yes, they are the highest organ of the institution so we are also requesting they give us a governing council to ensure the smooth running of the institution.”
