The Action Alliance in Ogun state says it is skeptical that the All Progressives Congress will not use the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission to rig the forthcoming local government election in the state .
The opposition party said it prays that OGSIEC is not turned to a rigging tool by the APC and the State government during the election .
The State leader of the Party, Dapo Adeyemi said this on Thursday after the party completed its primaries held in Abeokuta ahead of the election .
Adeyemi however said AA would give the commission a benefit of doubt that it would work its talk.
He urged youths to embrace his party saying that the party was created for them after the protest on ENDSARS .
His words “From all indications one can see the seriousness from OGISEC to conduct a transparent free and fair election, they have been emphasising on it but, you see us, politicians we are skeptical about whatever they say but we still want to give them the benefit of doubt that they would work the talk.
“Like I said when they want to run election they will tell you that they will run a transparent free and fair election, so far so good from what they say they mean it, I pray they will not capitulate into hands of the ruling party and the hands of the State government in particular.
“OGISEC have given us assurance that they have spoken to the security agencies,we also believe that the security agencies will not compromise during this elections, having said that we as a party will also assure that none of our candidates will be involved in any security breach, we will do that.
“Our party is a party born after the #END SARS the party is there for the youth but unfortunately they are not making use of it, we have seen a lot of youths in other parties being rejected and instead of them of appreciating Action Alliance which is for the youth we have not seen them, we still believe that after this local government elections a lot of youths will appreciate the fact that the party is meant for them.”
Meanwhile ,the party has urged the residents of the state to shun moneybags from hijacking the forthcoming Local government election in the State.
Adeyemi encouraged the people of the state to vote the people they know rather than the people that induced them with money .
He said “They should not allow moneybags to hijack the elections, the local government is the nearest government to the people, they should vote people they know and not people that come with money or people that are sponsored by the moneybags
“Incidentally most of the candidates in our party are Candidates of the community, we have no people that are sponsored or are moneybags, the few councillors we have and the few Chairmen we have are products of communities and that is why we believe that they are winning candidates because I believe the people will protect their votes.”
