The residents of Oke-Ogun community in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State have appealed to Governor Dapo Abiodun to zone the Vice-Chairmanship slot of the All Progressives Congress in the council to the community.
The community noted that zoning the Vice Chairmanship slot to Oke-Ogun will bring fairness and equity in distribution of position between party members in forthcoming LG election in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the Oke-Ogun descendants, Alhaji Adebogun Akanni noted that choosing representatives of Abeokuta LGA team in the coming dispensation at grassroot must reflect fairness and equity.
He added, “according to the information reaching us, it has been established that a non Oke Ogun person will be announced as the party flagbearer. Hence, the need to ensure that a bonafide Oke Ogun son is also made to represent our community in the scheme of things.
“Thanking the party and its leadership for heeding the call not to field an outsider who wanted to hide under Oke Ogun to advance their political aspirations, the group also urge that the party must ensure the Vice Chairmanship slot be zoned to Oke Ogun for balance representation in the local government.”
