Ogun state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has exoressed anger over the leaked video which caught him correcting blunders during a recorded TV broadcast.
Abiodun in the video which surfaced online was seen on a set reading the recorded broadcast speech and stumbling on errors in his speech prepared by his media team ahead of May 29 television broadcast.
In the 5:29 minutes unedited video, Abiodun who was on the front of a camera was surrounded behind the camera by some of his officials correcting the Lexus and structures of sentences in his speech.
The governor however reportedly ordered fir the probe of the incident which was described as saboteage and a dangerous dimension.
Following the alleged order of the governor fir probe of the incident, anxiety has enveloped top members of staff of Ogun State Television (OGTV) as they were reportedly being quizzed by the Department of State Security (DSS) in connection with the leaked broadcast video .
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the governor had called for the arrest of the crew members who recorded the video from the State Television and some top echelons of the TV station.
It was further gathered that the DSS had invited the acting General Manager, Programmes Services, Alhaja Kemi Ewedairo-Yusuff, Acting General Manager, News and Current Affairs, Mr. Seyi Oladimeji, and nine others.
It was further gathered that as at 11pm on Wednesday, the invitees have returned home to their families, but their mobile phones were seized as at the time of filing this report.
Reacting to the leak video , the People’s Democratic Party and the Action Alliance condemned the action.
While the PDP claimed that the video was deliberately leaked by the governor’s team, the AA described it as disgraceful!.
Both the Chairman of the PDP in the state ,Sikirullah Ogundele and the AA party leader ,Dapo Adeyemi expressed their views .
Ogundele said it was to give an impression that the governor is sound .
He described the leaked video as a ‘political gymic’ challenging the governor to appear on a live television interview and show his education soundness.
He said “Is a political gymic. It is a politically organized video. I have seen the video, they are playing politics, it is quite unfortunate that he stooped to post that kind of video to the public.
“It is an organized kind of video, he just wants to show that he as the Governor knows what he is doing .
“it Is a political arranging, it was intentionally leaked , it was intentionally released to the public so that people will start to give him accolades or that he is trying to show that he is educationally sound that he can blow grammar, we know his grammar capability and we know his educational qualification, they can not used that one to deceive .us.”
The PDP however challenged the governor to honour the invite from private television station for a live interview .
Ogundele urged Abiodun to show his boldness and appear on Channels programme anchored by an On-Air Personality ,Seun Okinbaloye .
He said ” I am asking the Governor to go back and answer that questions that was put to him by Seun Okinbaloye before the election concerning his education background and the universities he claimed to have attended.”
Adeyemi said “this is disgraceful! Didn’t he go through the speech before facing the camera? And where is the CPS?
” It appears the Governor is seeing the speech for the first time. Or what could have been responsible for this disgraceful act in front of the camera? And what is the duty of the CPS?”
But, the new Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission, Yemisi Bamgbose has blamed officials who recorded the governor for the leaked video.
Bamgbose who described the release of unedited pre-broadcast recording as childish ,said no governor whether military or civilian is immuned of errors.
The new NBC Executive secretary in his statement titled ” No broadcast is error-free,It is childish to circulate pre-broadcast recording /rehearsal of a governor” said he had worked with both military and civilian governors and discovered that none had error-free speech .
He said “It is childish for anyone to circulate the mistakes that have been corrected at the point of recording or a portion of the recording process of a broadcast that had been edited out of the broadcast version.
” It is indeed belittling for anyone to circulate what is even not a ‘hot mic’ moment from a production footage.
“Governor Dapo Abiodun will not be the first to pause and re-take a portion or more during pre-broadcast recordings.
” It is a normal occurrence. It will continue to happen with all mortals, because we are not infallible. A lot of mistakes are committed behind the scene in speech delivery that involves live or recorded broadcasts.
“It is also a big shame on whoever that hacked into the server of OGTV to copy the raw material of the pre- broadcast recoding of Mr.Governor.
“That is one of the dangerous aspects of ICT. It is an attempt to discredit the new leadership and perhaps the management of the Ogun State Television.
“This is the first time such a grade A material will be made public without due authorisation.
“Whether a saboteur from within OGTV or an expert hacker from outside, although what they have leaked out is a sensitive material, yet it has no meaning to any intelligent person.”
