A group, Obafemi Owode youth movement in diaspora has cautioned the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun from allowing another person with questionable character in his government.
The group advised the governor to listen to the yearning of the people of Obafemi Owode Local Government by giving them credible candidate.
This was contained in a statement by the president of the group, Otunba Jaiyeola Fadairo in reaction to a report that one of the aspirants for the forthcoming local government chairmanship election in Obafemi Owode, Adesina Ogunsola allegedly presented a forged certificate.
PLATFORM TIMES had reported that the tertiary institution certificate submitted by Ogunsola is questionable as the institution he claimed to have attended denied giving the certificate to the aspirant.
PLATFORM TIMES further reports that the letter by the institution to ascertain if the statement of result truly emanated from the school written to the APC screening committee in Obafemi Owode LG revealed that, the purported certificate presented by Adesina was forged.
In a letter signed by the school Deputy Registrar (Academic Affairs), Y. O Ogunsanwo(Mrs) denied knowledge of the certificate being paraded by Adesina.
Reacting to the allegation, the Obafemi Owode youth movement in diaspora insisted that someone with a questionable character should not be presented to the local government as APC candidate.
Fadairo in the statement stressed that choosing Ogunsola as the APC candidate despite the alleged certificate forgery will send a bad signal that the governor is comfortable in the midst of criminals.
He added, “additionally to the emerging facts and documentary evidences on Social Media platforms that supported the claim that one of the Aspirants for the forthcoming local government chairmanship election in Obafemi Owode in the name of Mr. Adesina Lanre Ogunsola presented a forged Certificate.
“Mr Adesina Lanre Ogunsola is one of the recent decampees from PDP to APC as he contested the Ogun State House of Assembly election, Obafemi Owode State Constituency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general elections against the All Progressive Congress (APC). He worked vehemently against the APC in the 2019 general elections before decamping to APC after loosing the election on the platform of PDP.
“It is very ironic that the same Mr. Adesina Lanre Ogunsola that worked against APC in the last General Elections, is now been paraded and backed up by some unpatriotic and selfish leaders in Obafemi Owode Local Government such as Engineer Akeem Babatunde Adesina (Special Adviser to the Governor, Works and Infrastructure) and Right Honorable Samson Tunji Egbetokun (Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters) who are head-bent in destroying the administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR and invariably put the party APC into chaotic situation in Obafemi Owode Local Government.
“Despite several petitions and public outcry against the candidacy of Mr Adesina Lanre Ogunsola, these leaders whose names were mention above are trying to enforce a visibly unacceptable aspirant on the Governor of Ogun State in order to satisfy their selfish interest as against the will of the party members and general public in Obafemi Owode Local Government, thereby putting the local government into a state of confusion in the forthcoming local government elections.”
Fadairo further said,” the Governor is hereby advised to please listen to the voice of reason and yearnings of the people of Obafemi Owode Local Government and give us a more credible person not a criminal as Chairmanship Candidate.
” Your Excellency, kindly recall the odiom and embarrassment caused to your Government within the space of Two Years
“Choosing Mr. Adesina Lanre Ogunsola as Chairmanship Candidate having the above highlighted points in mind will therefore send a bad signal to the whole world that your Excellency aid and abet crimes and comfortable in the midst of criminals which we do not want to accept.
“We shall appreciate you exercising your discretionary powers on this matter with tact and wisdom to avoid further escalation of issues.
“It is worthy to note that you have more credible hands amongst those that are vying for that Office within the Party and we shall not accept the imposition of Forger or Fraudster as our next Executive Council Chairman.”
All efforts to get across to Ogunsola prove abortive as he did not pick calls as at time of filling this report.
