The Eselu of Iselu land, Oba Akintunde Akinyemi has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to consider granting amnesty to popular Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho.
Oba Akinyemi said this while addressing a press briefing in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital.
He begged the President to temper justice with mercy and give him armnesty for everyone to suurender their arms.
The Monarch in his opnion said if the president could give amnesty to repentant boko haram members, he should also consider Sunday Igboho who he said is not as deadly as boko haram insurgents .
The Royal father also called on leaders and other stakehlders in the South west to join him in his appeal to the President and help bring all parties involved together for peace to reign.
Akinyemi while quoting a Yoruba proverb that says ” A child doesn’t get too stubborn for the parents to push him to lion to kill ” said that the yoruba rights activisit is still their son.
He advised them that they need to rise up and do the needful by helping to get him pardoned.
His words ” Amnesty happened in the South South and in the north, even Boko Haram members got Amnesty and I don’t think Sunday is as deadly as Boko Haram, we can’t let him face the tune.
“We need to rise up and appeal to the President that this issue can be resolved at home, we will bring all of them together and appeal to the President to temper justice with mercy
and let him give them a kind of Amnesty, let everyone put down their arms and lets move the country forward, he is still our son we can’t deny that
“What we need to do as stakeholders is to come together to say this person is our son. We need to come together and rise up to our expectation as Yoruba people “.
