National body of the Youths wing of the Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, on Friday, visited the top management team of the Ojulowo Omoluabi Holdings in Abeokuta securing over 20 job slots for their members.
Ojulowo Omoluabi Holdings is a conglomerate of businesses which include two radio stations, constructions company and three real estate companies across the southwest.
The PCRC youths had earlier requested for job slots from the company with a view to lessen the unemployment burden amongst their members and other youths scattered across the six geopolitical zones in the country.
During a ‘thank you’ visit to the company, the National youths coordinator of the committee, Com. Olurotimi Abatan, appreciated the Chairman of the company for an earlier assistance rendered to the committee reiterating the request for jobs for youths in the association and beyond.
“ Sir, we must appreciate you for your kind gesture most especially for that which you just did for us. Meanwhile please don’t forget the employment opportunity we discussed, please remember our youths because when they get busy, they look away from other social vices”.
Immediately, the chairman of the company, Omoluabi Victor Eniola- Mark, approved 21 slots for the committee, adding that the PCRC will have to sign as guarantors for the prospective staff.
“ We have discussed the employment opportunity before and we shall engage the youths just like we have been doing. But I was once on a panel where we interviewed Mass Communications graduates and over 50 of them could not define mass communications, as a result we shall place the youths you want us to employ from you on a two months probation and at the expirations of two months , we shall make the successful ones our full time staff.
“On that note we are approving 21 job slots for the youth wing of the PCRC immediately”.
Mark however appealed to the youths to always embrace dialogue instead of resorting to violence.
“Away from the job opportunity, I have always campaigned against violence and this meeting will not be an exception. Even the world war ended on a table of dialogue after many people have died but if dialogue has been considered earlier people wouldn’t have died.
“ So please, always ensure dialogue at every time. Whenever there is any misunderstanding please talk about it instead of fighting and in doing that the world will be a better place”.
