Scores of residents of Ogum state were stranded for hours while going back homew on Friday evening .
They however blamed it on the poliitical wrangling between the the state governor , Dapo Abiodun and his predcessor ,Ibikunle Amosun.
They attributed their suffering as a result of bar roads in many parts of the state to the acrimony and poliitical competition between the two All Progressives Congress leaders in the state .
PLATFORM TIMES observed that some commuters were stranded on Friday after the downpour which messed up some relatively-abandoned roads in some parts of Abeokuta .
Many of the residents while going back homes after the rains subsided were stranded for hours at Lafenwa , Akin-Olugbade , Obantoko , Panseke and other areas in Abeokuta .
PLATFORM TIMES observed that apart from the commuters who were stranded for hours , motorists were also not spared in the suffering as the traffic was snarl for hours due to failed portions in Lafenwa and Rounder among others .
Also stranded were residents of Obada , Adigbe , Obantoko and Elega among others .
Some commercial drivers were said to have refused to ply the roads with failed portions which forced them to stop work which are many people stranded .
Speaking with our reporter , some affected residents blamed the fight between the two leaders for the development .
Mr Akin Odetola who spoke with our correspodent pointed at the state of the road in Lafenwa asan example, saying the governor was deliberately subjecting the people into hardship because the project was left by Amosun .
Odetola said the road which recorded huge volume of vehicles in the morning and evening was practically abandoned by Abiodun to spite Amosun who started the project but could not finish before his tenure ended .
A taxi driver while complaining on what he and his colleagues were going through anytime they ply some failed portions, said none of them pray for the governor and his predecessor .
Also sharing his Aminat Banjoko who was also stranded with her two children lamented that she had been at a spot waiting for either taxi or motorcycle to take her home but, had not get .
Accoroding to her, many of them either charged a cut-throat price or refused to go.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that many motorists at Lafenwa spent hours on the same spot due to the failed portion at railway .
PLATFORM TIMES observed that many cars got stuck at the spot which led to long and thick queue of traffic .
Policemen and officials of Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps could not help the situation and had to leave hen it got dark and rained .
PLATFORM TIMES however traced the cause of the problem to the decision of Abiodun-led government to reduce the size of the road .
Also at Mokola and Elega area , many vehicles got stuck to the gully in the areas and led to traffic .
At Adigbe , no fewer than 20 houses were flooded following the improper way of water channel .
The residents however begged Abiodun to reconsider his decision on the state of roads in Abeokuta , the state capital .
