There seems to be no end in sight on the fate of commuters and motorists plying some roads in many parts of Ogun state as they continue to be stranded whenever it rains .
A stream of heavy traffic builds up in many parts of the state with huge suffering by the people especially the motorists and commuters .
PLATFORM TIMES observed that the torrential in the last weekend in some parts of the state washed away some roads making it more difficult for both motorists and commuters to get access to their homes with ease .
PLATFORM TIMES further observed that some of the roads were either on-goijg or abandoned by the present government which has said it will complete all the ongoing road projects started by its predecessor .
The affected areas include Joju,, Sango, Itori, Elega, Mokola ,Lafenwa, Rounder , Obantoko and Adigbe among others .
Speaking with some of the people who were stranded shortly after the rain on Sunday , they blamed the relative-padsive governance to the one month burial ‘break’ of Abiodun’s father .
While they lamented the suffering they had been facing before the death of pa Abiodun , most of them said the death worsens their fates .
According to them, the preparation for the one-in-town burial ceremony had taken the time and programme of the governor .
Some of them who spoke said “Most times I wondered if anyone staying in Ota and it’s environs ”
Abidemi Oluji , a commuter heading towards rounder said , the death of Abiodun father has slowed down governance .
She said “I know we will be alright after the governor bury his father .”
Gbenga Luwaji , a motorist who claimed to have been stranded for five hours between the Lafenwa road and Rounder said the situation in the area showed that governor Abiodun does not have the time for them now .
He said ” Even the dumb knows that governor Abiodun does not have our tile now . This road will remain like this may be until after he buries his father .”
A commuter in Sango , Jamiu Koleafe said “the governor should not allow this (his father burial ceremony ) overshadow his responsibility. These visitors can send condolence letters if he instruct them.
Afusat Babajide , a stranded commuter coming from Lagos but stranded in Sango lamented “He’s Governor of Ogun state. Sango Ota is an area in Ado-odo/Ota LG. Security and traffic enforcement agencies answer to him, he answers to taxpayers, Go to Agbado/Okearo/Lambe/Ijoko.
Maryam Ibrahim ,a resident remarked “He (Governor Abiodun ) hasn’t done shit except show up in events with cap. Me I wan sabi how him go pass that Sango road. Atan road too has been bad.
Also reacting , a stranded motorist Anifat Garba , said “Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state is still in burial mood for his father one month after his father death .”
Meanwhile , a commuter, , Taju Gbenga in his remarks said “a concerned leader would do everything possible to deliver infrastructure to the people.
” It is not enough to say that there is no fund. a creative manager would generate the fund & spend on people.
