Ogun residents fight for Abiodun’s attention over poor roads

Estimated reading time: 13 minute(s)

Tunji Abiodun

Residents from different parts of Ogun  state engaged in marathon efforts to get the attention of the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun over the state of  their poor roads .

Their efforts were triggered by the recent announcement of completion of Arepo road in Obafemi-Owode local government area of the state .

The governor had posted that promise kept : Arepo-Journalist Estate Road Construction Project Ready Soon, as Contractor Prepares Ground for Interlock Paving Stone.”

Reacting ,many residents who took to the governor’s Facebook page , shortly after the report on the Arepo road was posted, demanded for attention in their areas.

The governor who received both commendation and knocks over his action ,was acussed of focusing on Abeokuta and Ijebu for his road projects.

Surveyor Ghafar Enimakure in his remarks said ” you commission where you have property because ibafo is existing and civilized before Arepo. Till now, no single road construct by any government even light , no road, bad light poor government.”

Omobulejo Tobiloba wrote “Otta is an industrial area, ignored, road a 💯 dilapidated, hold-ups constant headache, Any governor who embarks on road project construction without working on Otta/ Sango route and Agbara road is doing no project at all.Am sure the gov is aware of the concentration of industries in this areas and IGR generated from this area, give this areas the good roads they deserve.”

Adewale Tunde in his remarks commended the governor for the project ,but, saying, “Sir, I want to draw your attention to the condition of a road from MAO junction to Ralphco in Ifo 2,local government. Through non proper channel of erosion (lack of good drainage),many people are homeless, also the road are accident prone. It will be immeasurable favor,if your government can fix the road. May God continue to bless and lead you through.

Isaac Ibikunle while lamenting said “Sir, in terms of IGR, how much do we as a State realize from Arepo?

“That was nothing wrong with that road, until the former road bulldozed to give way for this new construction

“But, the road that needs urgent attention was aboundoned, which is Lagos/Ota/Abeokuta Express Way. I write to you sir, the road is in compete commatose!

“Everyday, we stay in the traffic for hours, containers are falling off each everyday, killing innocent Ogun State citizens and other road users.

“You can send your Commissioner for work to confirm what am saying. The frustration is rather too much.

“We regret voting the useless APC into power!!!”

However some residents lauded Abiodun for the project .

.Accoroding to Abayomi Ajinike-Odunsi ,Ifedayo Adelani and Oluwatoyin Bello , the governor has made their days for rehabilitating the road .

Adelani wrote “Your Excellency we really appreciate all your good work sir, but Lafenwa to rounder road is bad, we need your help concerning this road sir, thanks
Oluwatoyin Bello

“To be sincere, I have to commend your efforts in Ogun State sìnce you become our Governor If your precedessor did like this, we would have a better Ogun State by now because many roads are long overdue for construction or rehabilitation before now.”

Loads of demands were made by the residents on the poor roads of their areas .

Accoroding to Momoh Joseph “Pls sir send some of your representatives to come a see what akute bus stop down to yakoyo bridge. One side of akute is not passable by any form of vehicle. Abeokuta and ijebu are not the only place where u were voted. I personally mobilized friends and family to vote for you in akute, alagbole and Ajuwon. U won my polling unit with the help of God and my colleagues. Other projects and being giving priority why we on this side are being neglected to carry our cross.”

Oyedele Okuwadamilola wrote “Keep the good job going but Mr governor pls lafenwa to rounder is moving from bad to worst pls do the needful sir people in these area are suffer.”

Emmanuel Grace wrote “Akute olambe okearo alagbado ajuwon please we need your intervention there sir the road project have been abandoned for years please si.
