PLATFORM TIMES however gathered that Amosun had warmed himself in the mind of the people in the party in Abuja and the presidency .
The Chairman ,Ogun State Congress Committee, Wale Ohu while speaking with newsmen frowned at the action of Amosun and his loyalists for conducting parallel local government Congresses .
Ohu ,though denied parallel LG congresses in the state ,he however said sanction awaits anyone who violates the party directive .
When asked whether his earlier threat to deal with anyone that participated in the parallel congress still holds or not , Ohu said the.party is not taking it with levity .
Ohu added that aggrieved members are expected to file petitions before the appeal committee of the party after the exercise .
PLATFORM TIMES reports that contrary to the directive form the party , Amosun’s loyalists held parallel Congress in all the local governments in the state .
He said “I want to make myslef clear , this is not the first assignment we have here . Every other stakeholder has been invited and most of them turned in for the stakeholders meeting .
“The one we did when we got here is not a stakeholders meeting . We selected those that are relevant to the assignment of today . It is not a general one . Caretaker committee members , ad-hoc members and those that will supervise the election today for the local government congress .
“Senator Ibikunle Amosun is a leader of our party ,there is no doubt about that.
” He is somebody we respect and I am.sure that he will do everything humanly possible to make sure that this party is on its sound fitting ,we dodn’t have a doubt about that . So, it is better press don’t start concuring what is not available.”
“Senator Ibikunle Amosun is doing well in the party and he is a leader in the party. What we are trying to do is to cement the relationship in the party . As it is today and what we have done is for the national leadership of the party to send us here to use the approved wards congress list that was released from Abuja and for us to make sure that we strictly abide to the instrution given to us from Abuja
“If you use anything outside the list of the approved exco list from Abuja you have divided the party . So, We try as much as possible to make sure that we stay ,that is that .
“The party has unanimously appointed ward executive officers approved by the national leqdership of our party ,given to us as an instrument to operate in the state and we made sure strictly we use that list of delegates to conduct today’s local government congress . If we do anything outside that we are dividing the party and we strictly abide by the party to unite the party .
Meanwhile , Abiodun and Senator Amosun’s factions conducted parallel congresses of the All Progressives Congress across the 20 Local Government Areas of the state on Saturday.
Despite the warning by the Chairman of the State Congress Committee, Wale Ohu against anti party activity , the two groups elected their LG Party executives through consensus approach.
The exercise was monitored in congress in Abeokuta South and Abeokuta North local government areas of the state,.
In Abeokuta South, Abiodun’s loyalists held their congress at the Centenary Hall in Ake, Abeokuta while Amosun’s loyalists conducted their congress at the Panseke park.
In Abeokuta North, Amosun’s faction held their congress in the premises of the African Church Grammar school while Abiodun’s loyalists held theirs at Unity High school, Enugada, Abeokuta.
Our correspondent also observed that, 27 officers of Abeokuta South LG emerged through voice affirmation.
Speaking on behalf of the Amosun’s faction, Tajudeen Lamboye, the SouthWest Legal adviser of APC insisted that the Amosun’s faction remained the authentic executive body of the party Abeokuta South LG.
Lemboye said, “We have successfully elected our officers for Abeokuta South local government area of the party. I’m a supporter of Senator Ibikunle Amosun and I’m one of his loyalists and we all here are his loyalists and we believe in his leadership that is why we are here.”
Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, participated in the exercise at the St. Saviour Anglican Primary, Ikenne, venue of the congress in Ikenne Local Government Area.
A consensus was also adopted in electing a 27-man executive committee in Ikenne LG.
He expressed satisfaction noting that the approach would further entrench internal democracy in the party.
Abiodun said “Our party has grown from where we were in 2019 because people from other parties have joined us in large number.
“This party is an inclusive party. No one will be discriminated upon whether new or old member. We will give everybody equal opportunity.
In his remarks after monitoring the exercise, Ohu noted that the 7- member Committee was sent from the national secretariat of the party to conduct free, fair and rancour free Congress, while applauding members for ensuring a peaceful exercise.
“This Congress is a fallout from the Ward Congress. The exercise in the State is excellent and perfect. We visited the 20 Local Government Areas in the state and we observed orderliness, consensus and it was great outing for our party members.
“We hope the party will sustain this and still want to state further that there is no parallel congress anywhere in the state. APC is one and any other thing apart from this is null and void”, Ohu declared.
