The Akarigbo of Remoland ,Oba Babatunde Ajayi has rallied support of all Nigerians and his teeming admirers the world over for the Unified heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua as he defends his heavyweight titles against former undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk .
The match holds on September 25,2021 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England .
The monarch urged Nigerians to support Joshua popularly called AJ with their prayers,saying, since they might not be by the ringside to cheer up the boxing Champion
The statement read “His Royal Majesty, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, Akarigbo of Remo Kingdom has sent a goodluck message to World Heavyweight Champion, Anthony Joshua as he sets to defend his title against Usyk on September 25, 2021.
“The Royal father opined that representing a whole nation and defending his title would be a great challenge for Anthony Joshua and that his victory would be a thing of pride for Remo, his ancestral home, Ogun state in particular and indeed the Nigerian Nation in general, adding that he was convinced, with his near-impossible trainings, resilience, determination, determination, crowned by the Grace of God, he would triumph over his opponent, Usyk.
“The Monarch enthused with sports and known for an unwavering commitment to the success of his children, said the stakes were high and therefore urged all Nigerians and his teeming admirers the world over to support him with their prayers since they might not be by the ringside to cheer up the boxing Champion
“In his words, “Indubitably, the stake is really very high for us. Therefore, moments like this call for every support we can render our own since we cannot all be at the ringside to cheer up Anthony Joshua, please let us support him with our fervent prayers, and by Gods’ Grace we shall together celebrate another victory by Anthony Joshua on the 25th of September 2021.”
Meanwhile, in his bid to become undisputed heavyweight champion, Joshua has put his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles on the line against former undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.
Joshua expected to have his long-awaited showdown with WBC champion Tyson Fury to determine an undisputed champion. However, an arbitrator ruled in favor of Deontay Wilder to get his third fight with Fury before Joshua could. Instead of waiting to see the outcome, Joshua decided to step into the ring with a dangerous opponent in the form of WBO No. 1 contender Usyk.
The undefeated Usyk (18-0, 13 KOs) is a highly decorated champion that captured Olympic gold in 2012, turned pro a year later and became the fourth male boxer in history to simultaneously hold the WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF titles. He’s currently ranked on multiple pound-for-pound lists. After becoming the undisputed cruiserweight champion in 2018, Usyk made the jump to heavyweight and has victories over Chazz Witherspoon and Derek Chisora.
