A retired officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has been abducted by a drug cartel after officers arrested a 19-year old female drug dealer, Mngunengen Achir, in Benue State.
Mr Femi Babafemi, NDLEA spokesman, in a statement on Sunday, explained that Achir was apprehended with 5.5kg cannabis and 112grams of diazepam on 6th October 2021 in the Aliade area of the state.
The spokesman explained, “Other members of the arrested lady’s cartel abducted the retired NDLEA personnel from that community who they assumed was still a serving officer, took him to a forest and demanded the release of the suspect in custody before their victim would be freed.”
He further explained that the agency’s officers, in the past week, arrested 110 drug dealers in nine states, adding that the NDLEA disorganised their hideouts and seized different illicit substances.
The spokesman explained the nine states where the dealers were arrested are Rivers, Kano, Ondo, Oyo, Nasarawa, Akwa Ibom, Kwara, Benue and Lagos.
