The Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun has said that the state of infrastructure in education sector when he was assuming office as governor was heart breaking .
Abiodun however said he had renovated over 900 schools within the last two years and four months .
The governor said this during the 92nd anniversary of Government College Ibadan held in Abeokuta .
Abiodun said this while addressing the old boys association of the GCI, adding that he had declared a state of emergency in the sector
The governor said “government definitely does not have all the resources . When I assumed office , I declared a state of emergency in education ,I decided to intervene at the basic level .
“The state of infrastructure in our primary and secondary schools that I met was heart.broken.
“Today, I have renovated over 900 schools in two years and four months . But,..each day I see a picture of a school in Imeko-Afon ,Ipokia , or Ogunwaterside or Ijebu-Igbo, I asked them , is that school in Ogun, they said yes . This is despite the fact that we have done so.much.”
The governor however appealed to all old boys associations to intervene in the sector .
He said “Again I want to call on all old students and well meaning from Ogun state and of course from outside Ogun state to come and join us in this journey of rebuilding our education sector . Government definetely cannot do it alone .We have a programems we call adopt a school”
