The Federal Road Service Corps (FRSC), has promised to deal with any road user who violates the codes and conducts of the agency.
The FRSC Ogun State Sector Commander, Ahmed Umar said this while announcing the commencement of the 2021 Ember Months Special Patrol Operations in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Umar said the agency will wage war against excessive speed; wrongful overtaking; use of phone while driving; overloading, seat belt violation; tyre violation and unlatched vehicle violations.
He said 1,700 personnel had been deployed by the command, to oversee traffic activities on highways like Lagos-Ibadan, Sagamu-Ijebu Ode, Abeokuta-Sagamu, Abeokuta-Ibadan, Abeokuta-Sango-Lagos corridors, and the Ota-Idiroko international corridor.
He also promised to focus on child restraint violations; passengers manifest violation by commercial drivers as well as the use of drugs and alcoholic beverages while driving.
His words “drivers should maintain safe speed, avoid night travels and enjoy quality road experience.
“motorists should be extra careful and ensure their journeys are properly planned, with their vehicles routinely serviced, while paying special attention to construction areas”.
The Commander also warned that anyone apprehended for flouting traffic rules during the season may be treated as driving dangerously and could be prosecuted.
