The Association of ex-Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria (ASELGON) has appointed the Former Deputy Senate President and former President of ECOWAS Parliament, Senator Ike Ekweremadu as its Board Chairman .
The National President of the Association, Hon. Albert Asipa disclosed this while announcing the
constitution of Board of Patrons and Patronesses.
Asipa who said it was in order to strengthen the association, adding that
the Board would serve as a navigator and will also be responsible for the Foundation that will take care of our members in time of needs.
The President said the members of the board are former elected Chairmen of good character and well known in the society.
The Association which is the umbrella body of all former elected Chairmen across 774 Local Government Areas said the board will be inaugurated early next year.
Digtaries include, Hon, Abdel-Majid Adesegun Adekoya, Deputy Minority Whip, House of Representatives ( Deputy Chairman), His Excellency, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola, Nigeria Ambassador to UK, and a former Governor, Oyo State, Otunba Christopher Alao Akala.
Also on the list are Hon. Abdulganiyu Saka Cook Olododo, Chairman, House Committee on National Planning and Economic Development, Senator Adamu Talba, Senator Ahmad Barata, Hon. Wali Shettima, Hon. Jeff Ogbu, Hon Adam Kayeri, and Hon. Enekwachi Akpa.
Others are His Excellency, Ambassador Fidel Ayogu, His Excellency, Ambassador Gordi Agbo, Hon Murtala Galadima Garo, Hon Yinusa Afolabi, Hon Garuba Kehinde, Hon Freddy Ichegbo and Hon Baba Hama.
He said they are to bring their wealth of knowledge to bear on the board.
