The West Africa Power Pool, WAPP 330 KV Nigeria- Benin Interconnection reinforcement project executed by the Ministry of Power and the Transmission Company of Nigeria said twenty-eight communities in Ogun state will benefit from the proposed ECOWAS power integration project.
The Head Resettlement Action Plan in Nigeria, Engineer Mamoud Abubakar stated this while sensitizing stakeholders including Government Agencies, Non-Governmental Organisations amongst others on the power project.
According to Engineer Abubakar, twenty-eight communities in Ado-Odo, Yewa North, and South Local Governments will benefit from the proposed ECOWAS power integration project.
He added that the double circuit conduit line that will carry more energy is expected to take off near Atan along Idiroko road in Ado Odo -Ota local government and terminate at Onigbolu in Benin Republic.
While stating that the project is aimed at expanding the existing single-circuit transmission line connecting Nigeria and Benin Republic, the RAP Head maintained that it will facilitate efficient energy trade in the ECOWAS region.
In their remarks, representatives of the Federal Ministry of Environment, Mrs. Modupeoluwa Odinnayo, and the representative of the Federal Ministry of Power, Engineer Abimbola Ominiyi noted that the project should be embraced by all as it will expand energy access and promote economic development.
