Six persons including two children have lost their lives in an auto crash on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Keke/Lala village in Ewekoro local government area of Ogun state .
The accident which occured on Monday at 2:10pm involved 38 persons ,leaving 12 persons injured .
The Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps ,Ogun state Sector command , Florence Okpe disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
Okpe said three vehicles : a Mitsubishi Cabstar with registration number XS595JJJ , a Mazda bus E2000 marked LSR266YD and MazdaE2000 with registration number LND01YE
were affected in the accident
According to her , the suspected causes of the multiple crash were speed, dangerous driving and loss of control due to wrong turing on the part of the Mitsubishi cabstar which was trying to negotiate a turning without observing the road and the Mazda bus loss control and crash on it
She said “The injured victims were rescued to State Hospital, Abeokuta for medical attention and the corpses were deposited at State Hospital Morgue, Abeokuta.
“A total of 38 persons were involved which comprised 20 Male adult, 13 female adults, three male children and two female children
“Twelve persons were injured, 08 male adults, three female adults and 01 female child.
“A total of six deaths were recorded from the crash ( 04 male adults, 01 male child and 01 female child).”
Meanwhile , motorists have been warned to be careful while playing Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway on Minday.
The Public Relations Officer of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps , Babatunde Akinbiyi also confirmed the incident .
He said “there has been a reported fatal auto crash involving a commercial bus and a car inbound Abeokuta around Kere Village, along the Old Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, with over five people confirmed dead as a result of the auto crash .
“Motorists plying the axis are urged to exercise patience and understanding as rescue operations involving TRACE, FRSC and police .
“There has just been a fatal accident involving a Tipper lorry and another vehicle.”
