There was a mild drama in Lafenwa High School Abeokuta on Monday as an acclaimed mother vehemently objected to signing an undertaking for her school child .
The woman who was part of the parents, moslty ,mothers that besieged the school to sign the forms that contain an undertaking to be signed by the pupils in public schools in the state by proxy over the recent hooliganism in the school .
The state government had announced that every parent must sign the form on behalf of his or her children before the students could be allowed to continue their second term session .
The state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology , Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu had explained that the form was part of the strategies to end thuggery and hooliganism among the students in public schools .
PLATFORM TIMES reports that some schools were shut following the break down of law and order .
In a bid to end the violence against the teachers and among the students , the government and other stakeholders came up with some strategies to put a stop to the violence in the schools.
But, when the parent whose name could not be ascertained arrived the school alongside her child , she joined other parents who had besieged the entrance gate to obtain the form.and sign it .
Upon her turn when asked if she is ready to sign the form on behalf of her child , the woman said she could not append her signature to the form .
When newsmen asked her why she did not want to sign the form , the woman said she was not aware of the exercise .
She sias ” I followed my child to the school as usual . .I was told that the school asked us to come. I thought we were invited for a PTA meeting .
“I did not know I am to sign a form againt hooliganism and violence by my child . So, if I sign and he fights , they will arrest me . I don’t trust him.
“On this he is on his own . I cannot guarantee his behaviour.”
PLATFORM TIMES also gathered that some.pupils went to the school with hired parents .
Sources told PLATFORM TIMES that some pupils could not take their parents to the school where their behaviours would be revealed , they however , allegedly went ahead to hire some parents to stand in for their parents .
Meanwhile, some parents in many parts of the state were stranded while struggling for the form
PLATFORM TIMES gatherrd that the parents had been told to visit the school on or before January 9 to obtain the form and sign it on behalf of their children .
But, some parents chose to go on the resumption day which led to human traffic as many people were stranded .
