A 14-year-old boy has been rescued by operatives of Imo State Police Command from a ritualist who attempted to kill him .
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the
suspect hails from Anambra State, but resides in Nworieubi, Mbaitoli Local Council of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Imo state, Michael Abattam confirmed the incident on Tuesday .
Abattam said the suspect had invited a 14-year-old boy, and inflicted a machete cut on the lad, who is also the son of his friend in the vicinity.
PLATFORM TIMES further gathered
that the suspect, in a ploy to send the boy a message, allegedly planned to kill him and bury him in a grave he dug at the centre of his room.
A source said it was the loud voice from the boy after he was hit with the machete that attracted neighbours, who forced his door open, dealt with him before he was handed over to the police.
The police spokesperson told The Guardian that the boy was receiving treatment at a yet-to-be disclosed hospital.
Abattam, who promised to give details via a statement, could not do so at press time.
