President Muhammadu Buhari has assured residents of Ogun State that the long dilapilated Sango Ota- Idiroko road will recieve Federal government attention.
The President also assured the people that the Lagos- Abeokuta Express way another Federal road in the State will also be fixed.
Buhari made these known in his address before commissioning the Ogun City Gate project, which is located at the Sagamu Interchange area of the State.
This is part of the five projects which are to be commissioned by the President as part of the activities of his one day work visit to the State.
He added that his government has considered extending tax credit expending option for the reconstruction of the 100km Sagamu-Interchange-Papalanto road
The road is due to be constructed by Dangote group.
He also stated that he will also consider the approval of the reconstruction of the Sagamu Ogijo road by the NNPC through the tax credit scheme.
His words “I have also listened to your request to give ultermost attention to the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway and the Sango-Ota-Idiroko road respectively. Let me assure the people of this State that roads will receive Federal Government’s attention.
“We have considered extending tax credit expending option for the reconstruction of this road, the 100km Sagamu-Interchange-Papalanto road. I will also consider the approval of the reconstruction of the Sagamu Ogijo road by the NNPC through the tax credit scheme,” the President said.
The President while speaking on the projects he came to commission described Abiodun as the ‘‘performing Governor of Nigeria’s Gateway State,’’ the President said he is a worthy example of ‘‘promises made, promises kept.’’
The President noted that the lofty projects: the Gateway City Gate; the 42-Kilometre Sagamu Interchange-Abeokuta Road; the 14km Ijebu-Ode-Epe Expressway and two Housing Estates for low, medium and high income earners at Kobape and Oke-Mosan in Abeokuta, respectively, could not have materialised without the State government’s huge investment and commitment to security of lives and property.
He added that this has made Ogun State one of the safest and most peaceful States in the country and investors’ destination of choice.
The Governor of the State, Prince Dapo Abiodun in his address thanked the President for the support he has been giving the State in the terms of infrastructure, Social Intervention programme and health.
He also thanked him for his support to the State during the Covid-19 lockdown especially for according the State the honour to flag off the mass vaccination programme in the State.
Abiodun however passionately requested that the State be accorded a Special Status for Federal Government Infrastructural Funding, especially on roads.
