Former Special Adviser to Ogun state governor , Modele Sarafa-Yusuf, has declared her interest to contest in the 2023 Governorship election.
Sarafa-Yusuf made her intention known on Wednesday ,while addressing traders at the Osoba Adire Kampala International Market, Asero , Abeokuta.
While addressing the traders , she declared that she was running for the Governorship post since the governor has not declared his intention to run for a second term.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that Sarafa-Yusuf who served as Special Adviser to the state governor Dapo Abidun on Information tendered her letter of resignation on Tuesday .
She however threw her hat into the ring for the 2023 contest in the state as the number one wenty-four hours after her resignation .
She said, ” The governor has not told me he is running, if people can go around and say things, and declare on behalf of a politician, it’s up to the politician to say, I want to run. Step up to the place and he has not said so as far as I know.”
However, she explained the reasons behind her sudden declaration as she said her vision is to be an inclusive leader.
She said, ” I am running because I know that I am capable and my vision is to be a transformative and inclusive leader and make Ogun state the state of choice for people to live because of its educational, cultural and economic opportunity and because of its livability, vibrancy and safety.
“Even, as I send reassurances of my esteem, I do hope you will join as we begin this journey to a more prosperous Ogun state”.
