The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has won the maiden edition of the Ogun SWAN Security and Safety Cup.
In the keenly contested final football match played at the mainbowl of the MKO International Stadium, Kuto Abeokuta on Saturday, NSCDC defeated their Nigeria Police counterpart by one goal to nil.
Speaking at the final, the Ogun state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun lauded the initiative by the Sports writers in organizing the competition between the security outfits, saying that it will further boost the synergy between them.
Abiodun, was represented by the Commissioner for Youths and Sports in the state, Dr. Kehinde Oludare added that the state government will continue to support laudable sporting events aimed at fostering unity and peace in the state, while congratulating the maiden winner of the competition.
Meanwhile, the elated captain of the winning side, described the final as a cagey match, saying that any team could have won on the day.
The Most Valuable Player of the tournament goes to Aramide Owolabi of NSCDC, while Ayomide Fisayo won the golden boot award with 5 goals.
Kadejo Adekanmbi of the Nigeria Police was voted Best goalkeeper of the tournament having conceded just 3 goals through out the tournament, the Amotekun Corps won the Fair Play Award sponsored by the Chairman, House Committee on Sports at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Olumide Osoba.
