The Independent National Electoral Commission on Monday announced Olaniyi Ijalaye Esq as the new Resident Electoral Commissioner of Ogun State.
Ijalaye would take over from the former REC, Mr Olusegun Agbaje who had been moved to INEC Lagos State.
This was contained in a statement signed by the HOD, Voter Education and Publicity, INEC Ogun State, Mrs Adenike Tadese.
The statement partly reads “Olaniyi Ijalaye Esq is a graduate of University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife) where he had his First degree and Master’s degree in Law in 1982 and 1995 respectively. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1983.
“He joined the services of the premier banking institution, the First Bank of Nigeria PLC on 2nd July 1984 as a Legal Officer and rose through the ranks. He retired from First bank as Deputy Legal Adviser on 30th June 2011 after 28 years of meritorious service.
“He was sworn in by the Hon. Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu as the Hon. Resident Electoral Commissioner on 23rd February 2022”.
