A customary court sitting at Agbeloba in Abeokuta has dissolved the 19-year-old marriage of Oluwafunmilayo Adejumo and her husband.
The wife accused her husband, Mr Adejumo of not taking caring of her after he travelled to the United State.
Oluwafunmilayo told the court that she wants divorce because her husband does not love her again, alleging that he has held their only child in his custody.
The Nigerian wife noted that she was in support of their only child living with his husband in abroad but she wants the court to allow her have access to her child after the marriage is dissolved.
She said, “Truly, the defendant is my husband and we have been married for 19-years now and blessed with a child whose name is Kehinde Adejumo, the only child of the union who is in the custody of his father now in America and I am in support of the child in his custody.
“I therefore, urge the court to give me free access to see my son anytime I want to meet him”.
PLATFORM TIMES reports that the court
dissolved the marriage at the absence of the husband who had failed to show up at court to defend his case.
The court also granted the wish of the wife to have access to his child, adding that violation of the judgement is punisable under the law.
“This court therefore dissolves the Union as the wife seems she is no more interested in the marriage, parties are of today 7th of March, 2022 free to marry anyone of their choice.
“Any violation of this matter should be reported to the nearest police station for necessary action as the husband should be aware of the divorce latest today 7th of March 2022”.
