A house wife, Nimota Alabi has prayed to the court to separate her marriage because her husband was fond of complaining of her body odour.
The house wife accused her husband identified as Jamiu Alabi of maltreating her whenever she offends him.
Nimota said she lost her three months pregnancy as a result of the beating her husband inflicted on her.
The house wife who spoke on Tuesday before the Grade 1 customary court at Ale, Abeokuta stressed that her also got married to another woman without her knowledge.
She said “When i was 3 months pregnant, my husband beat me till i lost the pregnancy, there are times that he would send me away from our matrimonial bed to sleep on the floor complaining that i smell”
“There are times he locks the house and I’ll have no other choice than to leave my husband’s house
“There was a time when i was heavily pregnant, my husband came home and met me sleeping on the bed, then went out to get water, came back to pour it on my body while i was sleeping”.
In his defense, the husband, Alabi Jamiu who was the plaintiff denied the allegations.
Jamiu confessed that he poured water on his wife while sleeping but claimed that he did that because his wife was lazy.
He accused his wife of being too troublesome, lazy and fond of packing out of the house even without them having disputes.
He added that because of his wife’s troublesome character, they have been served quit notice severally at the houses they lived before they moved into their own apartment.
He said “because of her troublesome character, i moved out of the room and started sleeping in the parlour, i had to leave the room for her and the children, this woman doesn’t give me peace.
“I did it because she’s too lazy and I’ve warned her several times not close up her shop and come home to sleep when she ought to be making profits”
The president of the court however adjourned the case till 12th of April for further hearing.
