An Ogun State magistrate court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta on Thursday ordered the remand of Ramota Bello who killed her husband with hot water at a Fulani settlement, located at Iyana Ilewo, Abeokuta North Local Government Area of the State.
The 19-year-old housewife and mother of two was said to have killed her husband by pouring hot water on him while asleep.
The accused told the court that her deceased husband is fond of beating her, saying she bath her husband with hit water out of frustration.
“He used to beat me. I didn’t know it would lead to his death.”
The Chief Magistrate, O.M Somefun, referred to the situation as domestic violence.
She said the defendant reacted to the beatings she had received several times from her husband.
The Magistrate condemned the defendant for the offence, noting that she ought to have cried out for help.
The defendant pleaded guilty to the offense charged against her.
The Magistrate however adjourned the case till April 22nd.
