The Otileta ruling house of Owu Kingdom in Abeokuta, has nominated an Archbishop of Methodist Church of Nigeria, Dr Adegbemi Adewale as the most preferred candidate of the Olowu stool.
The Archbishop emerged the most preferred candidate after members of the ruling house scored him above other candidates.
PLATFORMTIMES gathered that members of the ruling house also nominated six other princes as candidates for the next Olowo of Owu.
The ruling house on Wednesday notified the Abeokuta North Local Government after screening the candidates.
PLATFORMTIMES gathered that the total of twelve princes were nominated for the stool before six of the candidates were qualifed in the screening.
PLATFORMTIMES reports that candidates were scored based based on their performances at the screening and interview sessions.
The six other candidates nominated along with Adewale, who is a PhD holder and from Ile Aderinoye, are Princes Adelani Oladimeji from Ile Omo’le Efon; Matemilola Adelola from Ile Soke and Olatidoye Olaniyi from Soke.
Others are Princes Adeyanju Bakinson from Ile Otopo; Simeon Soyele from Ile Lumosa and Adesina Adelani from Ile Soke.
According to the results sheet, Prince Adegbemi Adewale, a PhD holder, came first with 1,027 points; Prince Adelani Oladimeji, scored 909 points, Matemilola Adelola 886 points, while Prince Olatidoye Olaniyi scored 863 points.
Other scores are Prince Adeyanju Bakinson, 862 points; Simeon Soyele, 827 points and Adesina Adelani, 801 points.
The Olowu stool, became vacant, following the demise of the Late Oba Adegboyega Dosumu, who joined his ancestors in December 12, 2021.
