Traders and residents of Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, on Monday, lamented over the state of the popular Multi-million naira bridge situated at Panseke, Abeokuta.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that dirts have taken over the bridge constructed by the administration of former governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun .
PLATFORM TIMES on Monday observed that dirt’s have littered the bridge and the offensive odour oozing out from the dirty areas of the bridge could be suffocating .
Also, some residents and traders who spoke with our reporter complained that they had kicked against the act so many times but nothing has been done about the state of the bridge
Speaking with PLATFORM TIMES, a user of the bridge , Oguntola Ololade lamented that the dirt was becoming too much and that she wonders how the dirts gets to the bridge
She added ” we are always complaining to the people who clean the bridge to see something to do about it but we get no response about it.
” I stopped passing through the place because the smell is suffocating and also due to the fear of contacting any kind of disease.
Also, a resident , Mrs Williams lamented that the bridge is always so dirty and she has resulted to using bike to cross to the other side with her kids instead of walking on the bridge
She said ” i see no reason why people will be placing dirt around this place when it is a bridge meant for people to pass through
“Anytime I pass through this place I feel irritated passing through this place as the sight can make you sick
“I see no reason why people will be selling their wares on the bridge and also the beggers will continue to stay here when the place is so smelling and stinking.”
However, some of the people who spoke with our correspodent urged the government to take quick action concerning the issue and also send out environment officials to the bridge to clear all the dirts
