An Ogun State magistrate court, sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, has sentenced a 30-year-old man Alayande Sefiu to 24 months imprisonment for stealing iron worth N180,000.
The suspect was arraigned on a three-count-charge bothering on theft.
The suspect was arraigned on the first count charge of stealing one big iron valued N70,000 which belonged to one Haruna Akanni at Soyeye area Abeokuta sometimes in August, 2021.
He was arraigned on the second count charge of stealing four iron burglary windows at N80,000 which belonged to one Ismail Akanni at Soyeye Last bus stop, Abeokuta sometimes in August, 2021.
On the third count charge, he was charged for stealing small iron door which worth N30,000 and belonged to Shobayo Kabiru.
Sefiu pleaded guilty to the crime.
However, the Prosecuting council, Assistant Superitendent of Police, Olakunle Shonibare told the court that the convict committed the crime sometimes in August, 2021.
He said the victim stole one big iron door valued #70,000, four iron burglary windows valued N80,000 as well as a small iron door valued N30,000 all belonging to one Shobayo Kabiru and others that are welders.
Shonibare alleged that the convict stole those items in other to give his own customers who had paid him, to make the items for them, of which he squandered their money and stole from his counterpart welder.
Giving judgement, magistrate O.M Somefun sentenced the convict to 24 months imprisonment without an option of fine.
