A 26-year-old man, Dauda Lekan who was arrested for armed robbery after he allegedly snatched a Toyota Corolla car, has insisted that he was a thief and not an armed robber .
The suspect said this after he was paraded along other suspects at the State Police Command headquarters at Eleweran, Ogun state .
The suspect disclosed that although he had been into numerous cases of stealing people’s property but had never made use of a gun.
He said “truly, I have stolen before, I walk around during midnight and any vehicle parked at the road side,I pick phones from it but I have never made use of gun”.
He further said that he knows nothing about the robbery of the Toyota corolla which he was arrested for.
Dauda made it known that, he was coming out of a lodge when he was apprehended by some policemen and was taken to the police station.
He said , “on getting to the station where I met my friends, I asked them what happened and they answered that they were arrested for armed robbery and burglary”.
He however said that he knows nothing about the alleged matter.
He said “I know nothing about the robbery and my friends also testified.”
