Delivering her judgement, Justice, Rotimi Balogun, sentenced the defendant to three years imprisonment.
She said, “In the instance case from the testimony of the only witness who is the victim, what the defendant did to her is deplorable and condemnable.
“However, since she has found it in her heart to forgive him and move on with her life.
“I am of the firm view that leaving the defendant incarceration for long time as a young man and first offender would not serve any useful purpose.
“I believe having been in prison for the last two years, he must have learnt his lessons.
“He should know by now that if such a thing happens again he would not have a second chance.
“It is for this reason that I agree with the term of imprisonment of three years agreed on in the plea bargain agreement.
“The defendant having pleaded guilty as charged is hereby convicted and sentenced to a term of three years.”
