Four policemen including a female officer were killed at Atani police station in Ogbaru Local Council of Anambra State.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the gunmen arrived at the police station with three Hilux vehicles and a Sienna bus at about 1:30a.m on Wednesday and immediately launched an attack on the facility.
However, The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Toochukwu Ikenga confirmed the attack, adding that security operatives successfully repelled the hoodlums who ran away.
He said ” the Commissioner of Police (CP) Echeng Echeng on hearing of the attack, immediately mobilised men of the command from various units to the area.
“The hoodlums were still there when the CP personally led men of the command to the affected area, and the timely arrival saved the day and the hoodlums were successfully repelled.
“CP Echeng had already ordered a discreet investigation to unravel the identities of the attackers, ensuring that they were rounded up to face the full wrath of the law for their acts of callousness,” he added.
