The Christian Association of Nigeria has directed all church leaders in the country to hold a three-day prayer for the country between May 13 and 15, 2022.
The CAN President, Olasupo Ayokunle disclosed this in a statement on Monday, saying the prayer will guide the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from being partial.
The statement issued by the CAN Secretary, Daramola Joseph , stated that the CAN president urged the church leaders to pray to God to show Nigeria mercy and divinely intervene in all affairs of the nation, especially economic, political and security matters.
The statement titled, “A request for a solemn assembly to pray for Nigeria,” read in part, “We are to passionately call upon the Lord that God would speak to our leaders to take the right steps in addressing the dangerous situations into which we have put ourselves.
“That our political leaders will not set the nation on fire or tear it apart by their insensitive political actions which failed to take our complexities into consideration as we approach the 2023 elections.
“That God would continue to be with the electoral umpire, INEC, to stand firm without an iota of partiality in making sure that elections are free and fair.”
