Things are not rossy for Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun at present , as his alleged younger picture claimed to have been taken while serving a jail term after allegedly assaulting police officer, Secret Service agent in the alleged fraud case in the United States of America has gone vital on social media .
According to the report , Miami Department officers were detailed to produce the then 26-year-old Abiodun in court for being at large over an ongoing criminal case in the US .
In the claim which has gone vital with a lot of attendant reactions mostly unfavourable to the governor, it was alleged that the City of Miami Police Department in the United States had filed criminal charges against Abiodun in 1986.
But, in a venom reaction, Abiodun fought back, describing the circulating
photograph on the Governor as poor and photoshopped.
Abiodun through a forensic expert, Dr. Abdulhameed Adedeji, dismissed as a poor hatchet job, the photograph circulating on social media purportedly showing that Abiodun, was arrested for criminal activities in the United States in the late 80s.
PLATFORM TIMES could not however confirm whether that Adedeji was a forensic expert or not .
But, a statement shared by the media office of the governor claimed that one Adedeji is a forensic expert that that tore the images which he described as photoshopped images .
According to the statement, the image could be easily detected through zooming in, reversed text, missing reflections, bad perspective and by checking its edges, among others, wondered why it would take a badly photoshopped image to prove that anyone has a pending criminal case when the country is known for its meticulous record-keeping system.
Whereas the opposition who fired the first salvo claimed that Abiodun, now 61 and governor of Ogun, violently resisted a police officer and a Secret Service agent as they tried to execute an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
The report read that the warrant was issued after Abiodun failed to appear in court for a previously instituted case of credit card fraud, records show.
The opposition said “the document said Abiodun, on November 6, 1986, at about 8:20 p.m., resisted being handcuffed by a police officer from the Miami Dade Department and an Agent of the U.S. Secret Service. Both were detailed to produce the then 26-year-old Mr Abiodun in court for being at large over an ongoing criminal case.
“The decades-old casefile was obtained by the Coalition of Ogun State Students and Youths (COSSY), a political action think-tank sympathetic to Abiodun Akinlade, Mr Abiodun’s challenger in the upcoming APC primaries for the 2023 gubernatorial election in Ogun.”
In his defence , Abiodun’s defender said “this kind of photoshop is so crude that no self-respecting media outfit can publish it, and it cannot be presented as part of the evidence pool in any court of law.
“I am inclined to believe the claim that it is the handiwork of political adversaries who see that the governor is doing so well and thought of what they could do to discredit him, following their woeful outing at the last election. It is so bad that it will cause considerable embarrassment to anyone who presents it as ‘evidence’ in a court of law.
“The image is the outcome of crude superimposition on a photograph. It should be completely disregarded.”
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the struggle on who gets the All Progressives Congress governorship ticket in 2023 has become a thug of war between the two factions of Abiodun and Amosun .
