A 35-year-old businessman, Olujobi Ezekiel has declared his ambition to contest the governorship position of Ogun State under the New Nigeria People’s Party.
The 35-year-old Ezekiel showed strong belief that youths should be given chance to rule in the State.
PLATFORM TIMES reports that the NNPP aspirant declared on Friday at the NUJ’ secretariat, Iwe-Iroyin, Abeokuta, the State capital.
PLATFORM TIMES further reports that the governorship hopeful said he has the belief that with the support from the youths, he can defeat the older aspirants.
He added that the youths have been excluded from partisan politics, despite their highest population.
He said, “Today, I am here to officially declare my interest for the highest office in Ogun State and would be looking forward to everyone’s support in achieving this task.
“Looking at the state of our nation in general and Ogun State in particular, you will agree with me that this state needs a total overhaul in its governmental affairs.
“Well, I have experience in businesses, politics and I believe we can correct the wrong.
“Before you come into a place, you must have identified one or two of the problems that you want to come and resolve that they couldn’t.
“If you look at Ogun State government of today it is dull for the youths.
“There is a part of the scripture that says an idle hand is a devil’s workshop. When the people don’t see what they can do they will do the wrong thing.
“I am a youth. I am filled with energy and I feel that other contestants don’t have energy because they are older people.
“And the youths know what they want. We are like 70% in Nigeria. So I believe with the voice of the youth, there is no going back. We are winning.”
The businessman further promised to create an environment where businesses strive in the State.
“With my experience in businesses, not just local businesses but also international businesses, at least, there is a way I got to where I am now starting from nothing to this stage. I have been in debt and I recovered. So, I know what it is.”
Speaking with journalists at the event, the NNPP Chairman in the State, Comrade Olaposi Oginni said the Party was ambitious that the youths can rule the State better.
He said, “Olujobi Ezekiel Fayoyin is one of the three aspirants that we have in Ogun State NNPP. But I want to say emphatically that within all those three, we are presenting Ogun State the best.
“Governor Dapo Abiodun has been coming to demarket Ogun State youths. But for now a youth, Olujobi Ezekiel coming out has shown that what the governor said about Ogun youths was a fallacy and it is a kind of what the youths must condemn in totality.
The NNPP Chairman added, “And how are we going to condemn this? Is to have a youth that is coming up vibrantly, to change the narratives of politics in the State.
“And I think my aspirant has what it takes Ogun State to next level and we are going to change the change and take Ogun State to next level.”
