The Osile Oke-Ona Egba, Oba (Dr) Adedapo Adewale Tejuoso has disclosed that no ofewer than 60 students will benefit from scholarships as part of the commemoration of his 33rd Coronation anniversary.
The chairman of the coronation anniversary committee who doubles as the Ekerin of Oke-Ona, Muyideen Kasim disclosed this on Monday, at the press briefing heralding the anniversary held at the monarch’s residence in Ibara, Abeokuta.
Kasim said that the monarch will also donate food items to the less privileged and the lepers.
He said “the Kabiyesi awarded scholarships in February, every year during coronation, he awards scholarships to mark his anniversary and he will do it again by November. This may, he will be giving out between 50 and 60 scholarships.
“The scholarship is not for Oke-Ona Egba only, the King in his magnanimity has extended to everybody. Asides the scholarship, he still attends to those that are in need anytime they come to him.
“In celebration of the coronation anniversary, we will be donating items to the less privileged and also remember the lepers. We have all of these things but we don’t want to disclose them initially.”
Commenting on the his way of giving back to the people, the king said, “The Bible says what your right hand is doing, your left should not know; that is the principle that applies in all that we do but since it has been asked, the Ekerin has made that disclosure.”
Other activities for the anniversary includes 33 hours of praises from Tuesday 17th to Wednesday 18th at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library event centre, Friday May 20th, beating of the Gbedu drum, Christian, Muslim and Traditional services; all at Osile’s palace
There will also be conferment of traditional titles on sons and daughters across the ten township.
