Ogun State based team Gateway United have dedicated their 2021/2022 NNL week 14 victory over J Atete Football Club to the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun in celebration of 62nd birthday and 3rd anniversary as Governor.
Haruna Salifu’s solitary strike in 19th minute ensured Ayinla’s lads maintained their 100 percent home record at home to leapfrog Insurance to the top of the summit with 29 points.
The acting General Manager, Niyi Soleye speaking after the match dedicated the victory to Abiodun for his unalloyed support.
“Another big three points in the bag worthy of dedication to His Excellency, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, the executive governor of Ogun State whose 62nd birthday is celebrated today as well as his third anniversary in office. We thank him for his immense support for the club. We knew that nothing but victory would be good enough and we will continually put in effort to ensure that the elusive NPFL ticket is clinched”
Soleye further assured the teeming fans of the club that the best is yet to come as the team will continue to improve.
Coach Toyin Ayinla commended his team for ensuring maximum points in a pulsating encounter.
“Not the easiest of game. But we did manage to clinch all points. We tried to score more but we were not so lucky in front of goal. We will continue to push harder as we look forward to our next game in Enugu”.
Gateway will next face Adoration FC in Enugu on Saturday 4th June, 2022 in match day 15.
