There have been speculations that former Imo State governor, Emeka Ihedioha has been tipped to be the vice president Atiku Abubakar’s running mate in the 2023 presidential election.

Although the media aide to the ex-governor, AIC Akwarandu told the media that Ihedioha’s name has only appeared among other names in the list of prospective Vice President to the presidential flag bearer of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku.
Some people have stated that choosing a candidate from the South East does not determine Atiku’s success in 2023 election.
Some Nigerians who took to Twitter on Thursday showed strong support for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of Labour Party against the Atiku.
A Twitter user idetified ad IVOH @ivoh_ivoh, said: “Emeka Ihedioha just made a political mistake. He would have re-contested for Imo gubernatorial election. He has 100% chance of defeating Hope Uzodinma. But no, he wants to be a VP. He will lose both sides. Na Peter Obi we know.”
Another user, 9jaWoman @obyobiasogu, wrote: “Even if Atiku picks me as his running mate, I will still vote Peter Obi, they don’t get it do they? eee
Your PVC your Power, said: “With Emeka Ihedioha as Atiku running mate you all will understand igbos don’t play tribal politics but are more vested on competence!!!
Emeka won’t even win his state”
Commending the move, Ómó Calabar @Aniebreads said:” Picking Emeka Ihedioha is highly strategic by Atiku but it doesn’t hold water. Even Imo State indigenes knows that Emeka is good, but @PeterObi is what we need.”
PLATFORM TIMES however gathered that the former Imo governor, Ihedioha said he was not aware of such.
“Honestly, I am not aware of any action in that direction.”
A party source had earlier said “Ihedioha has a very good relationship with Atiku and Tambuwal but he mobilized for Tambuwal during the primary and we all saw what happened when Atiku needed help, Tambuwal came to his rescue.” As a party, we are looking at zoning the Vice Presidency slot to the southeast given the support of the region in time past to our party. And when I look at the track records of Ihedioha, he is the best fit for the role.”
Meanwhile, a media aid had earlier said “Ihedioha is not Vice President. Atiku is yet to choose. However, his name is among those being tipped for it which he has been indifferent about.”
