The Chairman of Labour Party in Yewa South area of Ogun State, Adeola Olasunkanmi and some of his supporters on Tuesday, decamped to the New Nigeria People’s Party.
Olasunkanmi said he decamp to the NNPP because of his love for the party’s presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
The former chairman also said he is joining the party, because of his admiration for the leader of NNPP in State, Comrade Olaposi Oginni appealed to him and others.
“I just decamp to NNPP because of Kwankwaso.
“The things that are special about him are many.
“I have observed him very closely. Since the time he sponsored the trip of many youths in his State.
“Aside that, when I learnt that Oginni, my boss is the chairman of NNPP in Ogun State, so I left Labour Party because of my likeness for Oginni and Kwankwaso.”
He further noted that decamping to the NNPP was not in protest to Peter Obi being the presidential candidate of the LP.
“Peter Obi may be capable but politics is a matter of choice. My spirit and that of my supporters have withdrawn from LP. It is not because of Peter Obi.
“It is even possible that I am in LP but work for NNPP.
“But I don’t want to do that and that was why I took my supporters with me to decamp to NNPP.”
He noted that the number of LP members that decamped to NNPP cannot be counted now because they will continue to sell the party to others.
“I cannot count the number of people that decamped with me to NNPP because it is a whole local government.
“If two of us go home and tell others that we have truly decamp to NNPP, they will know that it is not a joke that we truly want to work for the party. And they will all join us.
“You see that I join because of Oginni and if others see that NNPP is the new party I join, they will follow me. Even those that never join any party will still work for him.
“That is why I cannot say the number of people that decamp.”
