The political friendship between Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun and his political partner who is also Ogun West Senatorial candidate, Olamilekan Adeola went sour during the All Progressives Congress presidential primary held in Abuja .
PLATFORM TIMES reliably gathered that the two political juggernauts clashed while working for different political aspirants .
It was gathered that while Abiodun worked for vice president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo’s presidential ambition , Adeola, popularly called Yayi, worked for the national leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu’s presidential ambition .
PLATFORM TIMES further gathered that Abiodun who took 60 delegates to the convention failed to deliver them all to Osinbajo , his candidate .
The governor reportedly lost 46 of the delegates to Tinubu following the efforts of Yayi and others including some angry aspirants who lost their bids to get the party tickets in the state .
Both Abiodun and Yayi reportedly had series of confrontations while the primary was going on at the Eagles Square while working for their bosses .
Yayi was said to have told the delegates to go for Tinubu, contrary to the state governor’s decision to vote for Osibanjo who hails from the state .
The gesture by the governor was said to have pitched him against Tinubu who could not hide his unpleasant feeling against him when he visited the state to talk to the delegates .
An unconfirmed report had it that the governor had been playing a hide.and seek game against Tinubu while he was planning to meet the delegates from Ogun state.
Tinubu’s outburst in Abeokuta who described the governor as “Eleyi” (this one ) was said to have sent a strong signal to Abiodun of a battle line that has been drawn over his position .
A source at the convention hinted PLATFORM TIMES that unknown to the governor, there were many party leaders who were part of the delegates from the state that worked against his plan and delievered 46 delegates to Tinubu .
The governor was however taken to the APC presidential candidate after the primary to seek forgiveness over his role .
It was further gathered that the governor was put in a dilemma over Osinbajo and Tinubu ambitions due to reported pressures mounted on him by some powerful people from the Redeemed Christian Church of God to throw his weight behind their candidate who was a pastor of the church .
PLATFORM TIMES further gathered that anxiety has hit Abiodun’s camp following the role of the governor during the just concluded party convention .
It was hinted that, Abiodun who had secured most of the party tickets for his aides and followers might lose some tickets .
There was however a rumour that some tickets might be taken away from some of his aides and hand them over to the supporters of the former governor of the state, Ibikunle Amosun to compensate him.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the fate of the governor on his second time bid is hanging in the balance over some petitions written by other aspirants .
