The Imam, Muslim Community mosque Ibara, Abeokuta, Alhaji Tajudeen Roheem has disclosed that men of Ogun State Police command have held a security meeting with some religious leaders in Abeokuta, the state capital .
The Islamic cleric said the meeting was held by the Area Commander of Police DSP Aruna Adamu alongside other religious leaders, Muslims and Christians in the state.
He however asssured his congregation that there would be an improvement in the security of the state .
The cleric disclosed this on Friday at the jumah service.
While lecturing the congregation on hajj preparation the cleric took a pause to inform on security developments in the state.
He explained that the meeting which was to address security issues in churches, mosques and the state in general also had in attendance DPOs from all police divisions in Abeokuta.
The cleric pleaded with his members to comply with all the security directives.
On the meeting, the cleric said “The DPOs of Ibara, Imala, Lafenwa, Adatan were in attendance, alongside the ACP. The ACP said we all know of the happening around us. We should expect some security measures. The ACP made it known to us that patrol team would start going around the mosques and religious places..
“At the sound of siren, be at ease, as it would be the team in action. May be our guide. We were given the contact of various DPOs and area commanders in case of emergency, the numbers shall be pasted around the mosque environment. When you get home, let your neighbors know these contacts to avoid unpredicted incidents.
“Also we were informed of the search that would henceforth be carried out before individual’s entry to the mosque. There would also be CCTV camera around to capture what’s going on.
“Please submit yourself when you’re asked to be searched, our security personnel shall be trained ahead for that too. Car park procedure should be followed too. Whosoever is with heavy and big baggage will be searched for our sakes.”
He however urged the congregation on Friday to be at alert and prayerful at all times.
