Security has been beefed up around Abeokuta ,Ogun state capital following the continued clashing between two rival cult groups in the state .
PLATFORM TIMES observed that
the Operation MESA, a joint Internal Security Operation with the Nigeria Police Force has taken over some strategic areas in Abeokuta with a view to beefing up Security in the state capital .
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state , SP, Abimbola Oyeyemi while confirming the presence of security operatives in many parts of the state , said it was aimed at curbing the rising crime rate and cult clashes recorded in the State’s Capital recently resulting to tumoil and deaths.
The stop and search Patrol which was witnessed around the major roads in the state on Monday night has awaken the residents to be security Conscious .
Oyeyemi said “the Police were Put in place at the remote areas of Abeokuta to regulate and put in place a well secured environment and to ensure no traces of any crime at all cost”
